HUMAN SKILL 02: EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE & RESILIENCE

Strong hearts for a changing world.

Hands-on ways to build confidence, emotional intelligence, resilience and healthy coping skills

WHAT THIS SKILL LOOKS LIKE

Emotional intelligence is more than knowing how you feel.

Emotional intelligence gives children the tools to understand what they're feeling, manage difficult moments, connect with others and respond to challenges with confidence. Spark + Stone builds these skills through practical, age-appropriate experiences that strengthen self-awareness, empathy, emotional regulation, resilience and self-worth.

Notice

Recognize feelings and body cues before they spill into action.

Regulate

Find age-appropriate ways to pause, settle and choose a response.

Connect

Practice empathy, communication and repair after hard moments.

Recover

Keep growing through disappointment, mistakes, setbacks and change.

WHY IT MATTERS

Change is accelerating. Kids need to know what to do with their feelings about it.

Technology can change how kids communicate, learn and seek support — but uncertainty, disappointment, anxiety and conflict are here to stay. Our kids will likely face them more, not less. They need practice: recognizing emotions, asking for help, staying connected and recovering when things don't go as planned.

FEEL IT.

UNDERSTAND IT.

GROW

THROUGH IT.

PAUSE.  NAME.  CHOOSE.

Ask your child to pick a recent moment of frustration and talk about it. Ask: What did you feel? What did your body do? What did you need? What could you do differently next time? Your goal is to just understand, not to find the "right" answer.
