Why Spark + Stone exists
Helping families raise confident, curious, screen-smart kids in an AI-shaped world.
Spark + Stone creates hands-on books, games, activities, and practical resources that help families build the human skills technology cannot replace: critical thinking, creativity, emotional intelligence, resilience, independence, good judgment, and meaningful connection.

Our impact
We believe every child should have access to the resources and opportunities that help them grow into confident, capable, future-ready people — regardless of background or circumstance. So we look for meaningful ways to support families and strengthen the communities where we live and work.
That commitment takes different forms. Many of our learning resources are available free of cost, and others can be discounted upon need-based request. We also look for opportunities to support families more directly in the communities around us. Last December, for example, Spark + Stone donated holiday gifts to local Charlottesville families — one small expression of a broader commitment to helping more kids and families thrive.

FOUNDER STORY
Why I started Spark + Stone
I'm Kate — a parent, serial Type A problem solver, and someone who's spent much of my career working in technology and digital.
As a mom, I've become increasingly thoughtful (ok...concerned) about how we're preparing our kids for a rapidly changing, AI-shaped future. I've seen firsthand the incredible opportunities technology can create. But I've also become convinced that we need to be just as intentional about protecting the human experiences and capabilities kids still need — the ability to think for themselves, create, connect, make decisions, solve problems, and become capable, confident people.
In a world where technology can do more and more for us, I believe those deeply human skills will only matter more.
That's why I created Spark + Stone: to help families find a practical balance — preparing our kids to use technology thoughtfully and confidently without losing the experiences that help them become the uniquely wonderful, fully capable people they were born to be.
